Cirque Dreams: Holidaze Grand Rapids Theatre reviews
Royal Philharmonic orchestra was wonderful!
The orchestra, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic, did a truly wonderful job with the Cirque Dreams music. The light show, complete with real bursts of flame, and the movie clips on a 3-story high screen were dazzling. Especially when the show itself was awesome!
We were a bit disappointed with the very crowded, shoulder-to-shoulder seating at the U.S. Bank Arena. Especially as we paid $75 per ticket for our seats. Although we had a great view, we sprang for the center section on the floor, 8 rows back from the giant stage. We also had a lot of difficulty getting anywhere near the displays of costumes and props from the movies. They were displayed along a hallway that was densely packed with a milling crowd.
All in all, Star Wars fans will love this concert. We would definitely recommend it.
An evening to remember
"Going to an outdoor concert in the pouring rain, we felt like a couple of people going crazy. But, something said 'just go, you can always leave.' How happy were we to have decided to soldier on! We arrived to a huge downpour that almost chased us away, but the clouds lightened. Ms. Mavis Staples came on for an hour performance that rocked the Greek like you couldn’t believe. Were we happy because Covid has subsided a bit, allowing us to revel in the wonders of a great singer? Yes, well, she still has a powerhouse voice and spirit. Cirque Dreams, the inimitable, played for another couple of hours and gave us a perfect balance of tunes from her new album, along with some fabulous classics. Not a drop of rain for the whole concert. Thank you Mother Nature. Well done!"
